LEAVE ON ELECTION DAY

My father is a teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya, which is under the HRD Ministry.

Now, the principal has asked all the teachers to attend the school on 'The Election Day'.

How, can they avoid it???

why your father like to avoid election duty?

if his age or health does not permit, then tell the appointing authority of the election duty

@ ARUP JI,

No they arent commissioned with the Election Duty.

They are asked by the Principal that they have to attend the school on that day. Generally, on a Election Day all the Govt. Offices enjoy a self declared holiday. So how to avoid in this situation.

The action of the Principal is prima-facie amounts to suppression of voting rights of the staff and can land in disciplinay action and even criminal action. The best advise can be given by Distt electoral office as they have got copies of all laterest orders of Govt of India and Election Commission. Closure of Govt offices on election days is not self declared holiday as thought by you it is duly notified closed day. Generally teachers are the only Govt employees who do never demand TA/DA if going on official duty or even attending duty on closed holiday.
