Wether dv act as criminal or civil remedy?

Quasi civil,quasi criminal, there is provision for imprisonment in case of non compliance of any order under dv act,otherwise all proceedings are like civil proceedings,even you can amend pleadings like in civil suit,most important is that word applicant and respobndent are used in dv act.
