contesting election of a convicted prisoner

A Person was arrested in 1991. subsequently he was convicted by the the Designated court under section 3 & 4 of  Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Prevention Act 1987 (TADA (P) Act 1987 for 7 years Rigorous imprisonment. he was released in 1998 (12 years back). he is living his life peacefully in the society. This was the only one case against him. no enquiry or investigation or trial is pending against him in any court or investigating agency in India and abroad.

Can he contest M.P., MLA or municipal election now?

All these elections for M.P., MLA or municipal election are conducted by Central and State Election Commissions as per the Constitution. These commissions are Constitutional bodies. Please check their website or contact them regarding the rules of eligibility for candidates. If the rules made by these Constitutional bodies do not have any problem, then there should not be any problem.

As I know those who have convicted for crime and has got punishment more than two years can not fight elections.

Your conviction had attained finality? or u have acquitted by the appellate court?

He is not eligible.
