Interest on repair and painting corpus - housing society

Housing society in Kolkata has collected painting charges but neither the work has started nor there is a deadline for paying, hence many have not paid too. People who have paid already can they ask for interest back/ adjust the collected amount with monthly maintenance till work starts.

Hello,

As per me you cannot claim interest on amount collected. However you can complaint to co op registrar to start the repair work in your society or refund the amount.
