If your friend is not comming to terms then you should file a police complaint; but your friend may use the cheques and put you in trouble as both things were suppoused to be in your won custody safely....
Just try to settle amicably with him first... if you are tinkhing of polic action then it should be such that instantly the poilice shoul recover both the things or your friend can put you in truoble by issuing chques and lot of cases would be following you
Just make a wise decision and act swiftly you have put yourself in a very bad psotion
