Parking related issues

I had parked my car infront of a shop but there was a pavement between the shop.and the road... The shop keepers came to me and threaten me to remove the vehicle.because they want to park their vehicle because it is their shop... The shop keepers have an association so they can infuence politically and the police also... What should I do.. can anyone please help.. P.s. there is no No parking sign board there..
