can any employ be fired because of medical leaves

My friend had started his job... Had not complete one month.... On the 25th day of job.. He fell sick and come to home and next day goes to doctor and doctor prescribed him 5 day rest.... He had given medical and doc prescripttion as a proof to manager
But company.. Policy bazaar saying that you should stay at home

Is there is any law which can prevent company doing that
