Perjury

is there a separate proceeding taken place for perjury or can it be part of the same proceeding?

An application under S.340 CrPC is to be moved highlighting the falsehood and praying for initiation of case against the deponent for giving false evidence or lying under oath. There is no consensus as such on the right time for this application, but it may be moved after the cross examination of the witness.
