shifting charges by cooperative societies

Are shifting charges imposed by Managing committees of societies legal ?

Each State has its own Co-operative society act and it provides for charges leviable by the Society, any charges beyond these are illegal. You have not mentioned the State of your residence hence it is not possible to give suitable reply.

thank you kishor. I live at Pune City state - Maharashtra. these charges are levied by the society for new tenants who move their household items. this has also been shown by the MC as an income in the income and expenditure account statement.
