Registration of property

Sir, I am married and my husband is unemployed and is suffereing from schizophrenia. My husband is unstable and he began to trouble me mentally n physically. After so many talks and arguments father in law now agreed to settle a property in both our names. He now delays stating that since my name is added it costs heavily for registering so he wants time. Writing will is of no use as we cant use that property until his life.Since gift deed is revokable I am against it as I dont trust anyone from in laws family since they hide truth about my husbands condition before marriage. We dont have any other way to earn n we have a daughter. What is the cheapest way to register by adding my name as well. The property is ancestral as it belonged to my husbands grandfather. (But I think its right now registered in my mother in laws name)
