Regarding reducing the salary

Dear sir, Can the salary be reduced if the particular person's grade is been reduced. He is working in the organization (NGO registered as society act) for 28 years and in that particular grade he has been working for more than 20 years. The grade has been reduced because he has to raise fund for the organization nearly Rs. 5,00,000/ year, but he has raised only Rs. 4,00,000/ year only and the age of that person is 58. in the age of 58.
