mother's rights on married daughter

My wife died ,with out leaving a will, during last month. Now her alive mother says that she has right on her deceaseddaughter's property. What do Indian laws say?

It is believed that you are Hindu.

Confirm!

If yes; she might not be, neccessarily.

 

The property in questrion is self earned/acquired/absoloute or acquired from father's side or acquired from husband's side?

If   her alive mother's daughter is married  and she has issues her married daughter's property will go to her issues. In case they are not there next the property goes to you, the husband. In case of your not being there then her parents come inrto picture  claiming succession rights to their   deceased married daughrter's property.If you appreciate this answer please click the thank you button on this forum.
