Indian Penal Code , 1860 - section 304A - Offence of causing death by negligence - Mere payment of compensation for rehabiliation of a victim - cannot be a ground for reduction of sentence of the accused -the rash and negligent driving of the respondent in the instant case- proved - payment of compensation to the legal heirs of deceased persons by the respondent- Cannot justify to reduce the sentence of respondent to the period already undergone - fit case to reduce the same to six months instead of to the period already undergone as ordered by high Court .
