Widow right to sell a property

Dear All,

My Mother in law owns a House in Eluru, West Godavari , Andhra Pradesh. This she got from her Husband, who expired. House documents are in her Name only. She has a debt of 12 lakhs. She spent this money in performing the marraige of her daughters. She has no source of Income.

Now she wants to sell her house and clear the debts.

Her son is threatening that he will sign the documents.

Is the children consent required for a widow to sell the Property.

In case required, please let us know how to proceed.

Regards

Srinivas

Was their any will written by the husband of your MIL. If yes then what did the will says exactly about your MIL selling rights of the property. If their was no will in regard then ur MIL do not need any consent from anyone and that too after the house and everything is in her name, she can sell to anyone she wants.

If the house is in her name then she is the sole owner of that property she has all rights over that property she can use it as per her wish she can sell it without taking signature of her son , she didn't require to take permission from anybody .

Thank you for the response and replies.

There is no WILL for the house.
