Flat owner is not returning deposit amount

Dear Sir,

I am Virendra residence in Thane and currently staying in thane west in Rented flat from last 4 years and agreement for that flat expired on march 2014 and I have not renewed it as I am shifting my own flat in 24 May 2014, but flat owner asking me to move on 15 may 2014 or pay the rent for next 6 month otherwise he will not returned my deposited amount, I paid my rent of this month in advance for 30 days.

Please suggest how can handle this.

If the owner is not returning the security deposit amount, issue him a legal notice informing about your vacating the house and demand him to settle the security deosit amount after deducting the amount towards the standard damages or painting etc, if he is not obliging , you have no other option than to recover the same through a court of law, but it will be time consuming, hence, better settle the issues amicably.
