Liability electric meter after disconnection

I had office on rent  where electric meter was running on my name .After  closing my business   i  gave application  to  electric company  for disconnection of my electric meter , for which i have received acknowledgement/receipt   .  Electric company told me it will take  about 45 days to disconnect electric meter. Now my  electric meter is in custody of  Landlord  until  disconnected .In the worst cast if   any" tempring /electricity  theft/  overload /damage etc"  to electric meter occours  who will be  held responsible  ? who will be sued ? is it me or the  landlord .

Thankyou
