Dear Friend,
Copyright will not protect ideas or concepts. It will protect the literary work of the video game.
If you can recollect the movie Three Idiots, it was a novel based movie written by Chetan Bhagat.
There was some issue related to royalty and no disclaimer of the name Chetan Bhagat.
The principle is if it is a novel based movie, author of novel has the moral and economic rights.
The same principle can be applied here aswell. It is advised to seek prior permission from the video game creator or producer.
