Situation as follows:
1) My daughter in law has retained her original surname after marriage i.e. Mina Joshi.
2) However, in the birth certificate of her daughter, mother's name has been shown incorrectly with the husband's surname i.e. Mina Sehgal. They noticed this much later and did not get this corrected then.
3) Passport for the child was also made, based on the Birth Certifcate, showing mother's incorrect name i.e. Mina Sehgal.
4) However, now that the passport needs to be renewed, the renewal application has been rejected, as in all the documents and certificates, the mother's name is Mina Joshi.
Question: In order to have the mother's name corrected in the daughter's Birth Certificate and passport, what would be the step by step procedure? and approximate time required for this? Many thanks for any inputs.
