Advocate act provides that only advocate enroll with bar council can practice befoer courts. However individual can contest their own cases in person.

but in procedure of DRT it is written that a party can produce itself by way of appointing an agent agent means a person duly authorized by a party to present its application or reply on its behalf before the DRT

I will always advise to appoint advocate. One may be aware about the procedure but persons cannot have legal expertise. Just to save some thousands of rupess parties may ruine their properties. It is upto parties to have expert persons or just a procedure aware crook.

If you are a party in that DRT case, you can present yourself as an In-Person in that DRT case.

A person not having any qualification can represent the case of another person with the leave of the court.    The person who represents the case is called RECOGNISED AGENT.

A Party-in-person often suffers less than a person who contracts an Advocate.

Its always better to leave it to Professionals,
