Particulars of Information

With utmost respects to the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India:

In relation to Special Leave Petition No.CC 21048 of 2009 titled ‘Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission And Anr. v. R.Gandhi And Ors,’ the following statement of facts is first noted:

The matter was filed under Article 136 of the Constitution of India in relation to Order dated 05-Aug-2008 passed by a Division Bench of the High Court of Judicature at Madras in Writ Petition No.18810 of 2008 (PIL) titled‘R.Gandhi v. Union of India And Ors.’.

The content of the SLP was widely published and discussed over the internet by enthusiastic scholars and legal professionals from diverse regions of the world.

The matter was listed on 04-Jan-2010 before Court 1 comprising Hon’ble Chief Justice, K.G.Balakrishnan and Hon’ble Justice, B.S.Chauhan as item No.28 for the day.

That the common counsel for petitioners, Sri K.V.Dhananjay, was present in Court to render arguments upon the hearing of the matter and that, upon the calling of the matter, the Hon’ble Supreme Court refused to hear arguments of the counsel for petitioners, Sri K.V.Dhananjay and proceeded to dismiss the matter.

The dismissal by the Supreme Court of the said matter without affording opportunity to the counsel to argue upon the cause has been widely reported and resented in the media in Karnataka.
