I desperately need help in this topic. Recently, Kotak Mahindra bank took over Citifinancials and all its loans. I had taken a loan from Citifinancials about 10-years back. I was unable to pay back the loan but my father-in-law stepped in and paid off the amount. Now he has expired. At the time, he assured me that the loans were paid off after negotiation. Now, in 2015, Kotak Mahindra has sent me a letter saying that the loan amount is pending! I have no paperwork, no details, and no way to verify the details. I dont know whether to contact the bank or what to do. Please provide options, guidance, ideas on what to do...Any help will be appreciated greatly.
