ok i get all the points you make. so your conclusion is that the court fee has to be based on market value. i would like to know if there are any legal authorities for such a conclusion. thanks for the reply.

Hi All: I am also in the same situation. My father's demat account is about Rs 25L market value and doesn't have a nominee. Is the stamp duty calculated on face value or market value?
