Vehicle impound

In the month of July 2022, we purchased a used car from a local dealer.

Yesterday (20th October 2022), Police personals from local station came to our home and took the vehicle and the reason they said that there is a pending dispute with previous ownership transfers. We're 3rd owner.

Now, the vehicle ownership transferred to my name.

currently the vehicle is kept in court.

Requesting your support to guide us on next actions.

before buying cars etc. you have to get NOC from concern authorities In addition you will need the following documents some of which are to be retained.

  1. Form No. 28 (Copy).
  2. Form No. 29 (Copy).
  3. Form No. 30 (Copy).
  4. Delivery note (Original).
  5. Govt. issued photo id of the buyer (Copy).
  6. Registration, RTO tax papers & insurance policy of the car (Copy).
  7. Invoice of the car (Original).
  8. Form No. 35 - Finance company NOC (if applicable & only a copy).

These forms are available for down load from the Transport Department of your State.

"Now, the vehicle ownership transferred to my name" - is the change made in the RTO records?

What is the pending dispute? Which Court -civil or criminal? Is there any court order to impound the vehicle?

Yes, Now the vehicle is in my name only and all RTO formalities done.
The pending dispute is with the second owner related to payment.

I don't know which court. Today I'm expecting to get a copy of FIR.
