Attestation means an evidence by which something is attested.

Ex;- True copy of an orginal document is compared and certified, by affixing signature by the person authoriized and selected for the service  is called Notary.

Someone legally empowered to witness signatures and certify a document's validity is called a Notary and evidence by which original document is compared with the true copy and certified by the Notary is called attestation.
