Normally after a writ petition is filed in court, it will be heard the next day or in usual course. But if there is an emergency, one moves a lunch motion in the morning and the case is heard the very same day after lunch at 2-15 p.m. That is why it is called a LUnch Motion.

House motion petition means A formal request made to a judge for an order or judgement.....Most motions require a written petition, a written brief of legal reasons for granting. The motion (often called "points and authorities") written notice to the attorney for the opposing party and a hering before a judge.

respected sir

Motion petition means a formal request made to the judge for an order. Mostly motions require a written petition called points and authorities which contains legal reasons for granting the motion. They are made to continue or postpone the trial, re-hearing etc.

generally, after a writ petition the case is heard on the expected day but in case of emergencies the case can be heard the very same day after the lunch time i.e 2:15pm and that is the reason it is known as Lunch Motion.
