police arresting without warrant

hello
police took my brother from our home without any warrant
they said it is for investigation of a crime
they said they are suspects because their car was spotted near the crime scene
they kept my brother and two of his friends in police custody at police station for a night without any proof

Is it legal or do they have the authority to do this?

they set them free the next day but police had defamed my brother.

Simply forget this as a nightmare as ignoring this saves you precious mental peace, time, energy and money. Some misfortunes occur in life. Do not compound them with further actions that may not reduce the impact of the main incident..

There is no point in leaving the country. Rule of Law provides remedies against illegal arrest and detention. However, Rule of Law only provides the roadmap. But a roadmap, by itself, does not make the journey. It is the will and determination, and the willingness to make sacrifices when required, that makes the journey possible.
