Is it a right of victim to ask police copy of chargesheet?

When i asked IO of my case to provide a copy of chargesheet, he denied. And said you can get it from court. As i am the victim in this case , i must be provided copy of chargsheet by police.

But they have not provided me the complainant copy of chargesheet. Asked me to go to court. completely unfair to me. :(

Isn't police duty-bound to provide copy of chargesheet to complainant? Is it against law?

I disagree with other views.

IO is right.

You can get the copy from court and if necessary engage your own lawyer.

IO is not right. IO is wrong for not doing proper investigation and harrasing me.

If the IO is right [as per your view] the file writ mandamus in high court and then in High Court after spending a wadful of currency  you will understnd that :-

  1. IO is under obligation to give copy of c/s to accused.
  2. You are not accused.

Then you will get the copy from court,  By that time the trial would be over.

Choice is yours.
