Will - any age bar/mental soundness certificate?

Dear Experts,

Some of my known senior citizens are attempting to willing to a write a will and register under Sub Registrar about their property/money.

They are having doubts about the process as most of them are beyond 80 in age. But they are quite sound and have sufficient fitness to talk, walk, travel, have a debate etc. So there is no doubt their mental soundness.

So the simple question - Is there any age limit for writing a will? Beyond certain age, is a mental soundness certificate by a government psychiatrist needed?

All of the concerned persons of resident-citizens of India, with personal identification and address proofs etc.

Please clarify.

Regards,

Harsha Vardhana R

persons who are major and in sound mind and capable to executing WILL can write a WILL. Registration of the WILL is not compulsory but it should be executed in the rpesence of 2 witness who are not interested in the WILL.

Better if you produce mental soundness certificate while executing the WILL. pl note there should not be any ambiguity in the WILL.

Thank you Sir. Your clarification would dispel many doubts of the senior-citizens interested  in a WILL. They would take cautions on the clarity based on their intention and legal wording.
