Dear All Learned members, please give views and opinions on my question. How important is IO's deposition and cross examination. In my case IO had taken bribe from my in-laws and had acted upon thier wishes. Next hearing is on 16th Jun, 2012. Please guide.

Not much. It is not essential to examine I.O. in every case. Even if I.O.is not examined, the case will not result in acuittal. It is very difficult to prove that I.O.had taken bribe & carried out false investigation.

In 498A cases its a ritual that IO's are bribed by the complaining party. Your lawyer can easily take care of it by proving the misconduct of IO in investigation and nor performing a balanced investigation.
