Bigamy

A is already married with B, he commits the offence of bigamy by performing 2nd marriage with C. A is guilty of bigamy, but what offence C has committed? C was not married at the time of her marriage with A.

Well if she knew - that the man is already married - she can be booked in as an abettor who intentionally aided the perofrmance of illegal act (i.e bigamous marriage) 109 r/w 494 if she did not - there is no reason to attribute criminality to her - in which case Husband becomes liable for aggravated form of bigamy punishable u/s 495.

If B is in knowledge of first marriage, she can be an abettor to the crime.
