30-yr-long divorce battle ends

(Judgement attached below)

NEW DELHI:

They were together for less than a day yet fought a prolonged battle for over 30 years to get rid of each other. The Delhi High Court on Monday brought down the curtains on a three-decade-long divorce battle between a couple that had spent just half a day together after tying the knot in 1982. It granted the divorce decree to the husband who accused his wife of deserting him on the very day of the wedding.

"The fact that parties who stayed together for 24 hours spent close to 30 years in alleys of courts to get rid of each other is nothing but appalling to say the least. The institution of marriage, considered a holy union of two souls is made a mockery of by such cases and it is no wonder relevance of this pious bond is under scanner by youth today," an anguished Justice Kailash Gambhir noted while rejecting the appeal by the wife who had challenged the grant of divorce decree to the husband by the trial court.

HC also said that family courts and mediation centres have an important role to play in such situations and they should encourage resolving of disputes and bring the feuding couples closer together so that marriages can be saved.

Yes. All erring spouses make sure to harass their counterparts till their death. I don't know that when one decides not to live with the other, why EGO enters the play area and spoil whole life of two youths.

It's all upto us how we want to spend the rest of our lives. Justice has no easy way in India. Improper adjournments and unprofessional behaviour of lower court judges make such cases.

It is not a new thing in the Delhi Courts Jugdes gives a favour to ladies & giving un necessary ajournment which results delay in the divorce matters, whereas opposite party always interested in maintenance not to proceed the matter, now times has been come for Judges to thinks about it, why adjournment is granted for long pending matters. about 3 years back when fast-track courts were started for long pending matters, but today no such courts are exist. In the long pending divorce matter the petitioner is always sufferer not the opposite party. the court must be taken these matter as serious matter & try to solve the matters as earlier as possible , if there is no settlement between the party, if ajournment is granted then ajournment is granted with heavy cost to the party.
