bigamy is the act of conducting second marriage while ist wife is neither divorced nor dead.  a non-cognizable office in IPC. muslim having exception upto four marriages only that too there are some restrcition on the basis of customary law in some areas and I have heard fatwa alamgiri prounounced by king aurangzeb in the capacity of ulema.(i have not read it) if it exists then  as there is no legislation to the contrary the same is enforebale in entire india (pre-1947).  However for govt employee bigamy is punishable offence (generally punished by removal from service) and there is no exception for the muslim employee and employer can take action even without complaint of ist wife. However bigamy is on of the ground for divorce

plus,

In a case where the close relatives of the husband and the alleged second wife, despite having knowledge, participate in the actual essential ceremonies, they are certainly guilty of abetment of the offence of bigamy
