Stidhan

Dear All,

Whether STRIDHAN covers the gold ornament gifted to groom by his in-laws. Are the same covered under definition of STRIDHAN and in case of matrimonial dispute bet the parties whether they had to be returned to bride.

Will be thankful for the guidance.

Regards

Ritu.

No the ornaments gifted to the Groom are not covered under Streedhan. Streedhan only includes any gifts to the wife from her parents and inlaws/husband and relatives of the husband.

Technically even if it is not called stridhan, yet the same may be asked to be returned as it may be treated as expenses relating to marriage.

But the expenses of marriage are in no way required to be returned as the failure of marriage burden could not be shifted on the husband and he be made liable to bear the cost for the same.
