Majority

In which year 18 was declared as age for attaining majority? In year 1937 what was the age for attaining majority 18 or 21?

Dear Sidhardh,

The age of majority as 18 years was declared by passing Indian Majority Act, 1875.  Three months after passing the said act, the said provision came into force.  Since then, the age of majority of a person is 18 years subject to an exception that it is 21 when a guardian was appointed by a court during his minority.
