Extra Income during Government Job..!!

Is it permissible for a government servant to earn money by putting up exhibition-cum-sale of his/her Paintings during his/her service, keeping in view that he/she is a National Award winner by the Lalit Kala Akademi under Union Ministry of Culture?

As he/she is a goverment employee or public servant than he/she is not allowed to do any extra work as per the IPC , 1860. if the LD members have a different answer form my answer than pls support the answer with the relevant case law on it.

Thanks.

why so many restrictions on govt. employees?

anyways,if he wants to open his own website and sell them online, will that also be permitted?

it may not come to anyone's notice also..

It is just that the artist wants to do it openly and file his/her tax-returns based on income from the government job as well as from the sale of his/her artworks. .....

What about literature?  Does that mean that, even if someone has the talent for it, he/she just can't write and receive remuneration just because he/she is in a government job, which is more a social work work to her/him since she/he is a teacher....

It will be considered as dual employment. Thus it is not permissible.

@Mr.Tripathi:   You mean I can't even earn by writing (like articles for newspapers, or by selling artworks etc.)?

you can earn but only after obtaining permission from your employers.

@ Mr.Tripathi:   And getting permission would be a herculean task, given the mentality government authorities have.....They are always there to harm and never when it comes to do good to somebody..!!

Sir, Do you take up Service related cases?

Thanks

But it is the right procedure. one can not do anything.
