Vipashyanaa - Unique gift by Lord Budha

From Hindustan Daily :

First Published:03-12-10 09:37 PM

The Buddha was a son of the rulers Sakyas.  He was married at the age of 16 and lived in luxury and comfort sheltered from the harsh realities of life.  When he was 29 he realized that men are subject to old age, sickness and death.  He became aware of the suffering inherent in existence.  He resolved to give up princely life and become a wandering ascetic (samana) in search for the Truth.

With the two of samanas he attained mystical states of elevated consciousness but he failed to find the Truth.  He continued his search and was joined by five ascetics in a grove near Uruvela, where he practiced sever austerities and self-mortification for six years.  When he fainted away in weakness, he abandoned ascetic practices to seek his own path to Enlightenment.  Discarding the teachings of his contemporaries, through meditation he achieved Enlightenment, or ultimate understanding.  There after the Buddha instructed his followers in the dharma (truth) and the "Middle Way" a path between worldly life and extremes of self-denial.

The essence of the Buddha's early preaching was said to be the four Noble truths: 1) life is fundamentally disappointment and suffering.  2) suffering is a result of one's desires for pleasure, power, and continued existence; 3) to stop disappointment and suffering on must stop desiring; and 4) the way to stop desiring and thus suffering is the Noble eight fold path - right views, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right awareness and right concentration.  The realization of the truth of anatman (no eternal self) was taught as essential for the indescribable state of release called nirvana.

Buddha's Teachings

Lord Buddha preached: "We will have to find out the cause of sorrow and the way to escape from it. The desire for sensual enjoyment and clinging to earthly life is the cause of sorrow. If we can eradicate desire, all sorrows and pains will come to an end. We will enjoy Nirvana or eternal peace. Those who follow the Noble Eightfold Path strictly, viz., right opinion, right resolve, right speech, right conduct, right employment, right exertion, right thought and right self-concentration will be free from sorrow. This indeed, O mendicants, is that middle course which the Tathagata has thoroughly comprehended, which produces insight, which produces knowledge, which leads to calmness or serenity, to supernatural knowledge, to perfect Buddhahood, to Nirvana.

"This again, indeed, O mendicants, is the noble truth of suffering. Birth is painful, old age is painful, sickness is painful, association with unloved objects is painful, separation from loved objects is painful, the desire which one does not obtain, this is too painful - in short, the five elements of attachment to existence are painful. The five elements of attachment to earthly existence are form, sensation, perception, components and consciousness.

"This again, indeed, O mendicants, is the truth of the cause of suffering. It is that thirst which leads to renewed existence, connected with joy and passion, finding joy here and there, namely, thirst for sensual pleasure, and the instinctive thirst for existence. This again, indeed, O mendicants, is the noble truth of cessation of suffering, which is the cessation and total absence of desire for that very thirst, its abandonment, surrender, release from it and non-attachment to it. This again, indeed, O mendicants, is the noble truth of the course which leads to the cessation of suffering. This is verily the Noble Eightfold Path, viz., right opinion, etc."

Both abandoned their wives

Ram ousted his wife from home – Buddha left his wife and home.

Ram abandoned his wife for social and political reasons

but, Buddha for no reasons or for some unknown private reasons !

INTROSPECT  VERY VERY DEEPLY ON THE FOLLOWING,  (after drinking Boost or Bournvita)

The reality is that both  Ram & Buddha,  have conclusively proved that :

IF YOU ABANDON YOUR WIFES,  THEN THE WORLD CLASSIFIES YOU AS  :

a)   a Lord, compelling the ordinary people to worship them

b)  gives you unlimited respect, life-long

c)  You can attain Nirvana,  Eternal peace  &  Containment,  If you "abandon"  your wives.

d)  You can escape from  Surffering, Disappointment, 498a & DVAct, Maintainence etc...

AND THE ABOVE LORDS (RAM  & BUDDHA)  HAVE GUIDED US AND SET A PRECEDENT AND GUIDED US TO ABANDON WIFE  AND ATTAIN   "NIRVANA  &  ETERNAL PEACE".
(contradictions challenged)

Keep Smiling .... Hemant Agarwal

Lord Ram didn't abandoned Goddess,Sita from his heart, and statue of Goddess,Sita was always there with him in all the functions.and taken care of her. It was preplanned by him. Later he adopted Luv and Kush Happily. But Goddess,Sita rejected the request Of Lord Rama to return to him and preffered to returns to mother earth.

Lord Ram always followed truth and non violence against all the odd and difficult circumtances. His life was full of hradship, difficulties and misery.

one of our friends saying in another thread that Buddha had returned to home to reconcile with his wife.

According to shastric code of conduct (Manu smriti), returning to home after taking sanyaas was not permissible and it was considered very serious sin. Reason for it  might have been to preserve the high morals of sanyaas i.e. before proceeding for sanyaas, a person had to think again and again and to evaluate his will power and competency for sanyaas. One of our  team member is saying that Buddha had not sufficient will power therefore he might have returned to home and might not have successful in adjusting in Grihasth life and then again left the home !!!

We are not sure what was the reason !!!

In most of the cases,  people have evaluated in high esteem the foregoing of worldly pleasure by those who had it in ample with them and hence it is necessary to have to forego. Hence these kings who have forgone all their luxuries of life have recieved high place in the heart of a common man. How can one forego something which he does not have. So it is neccesary to acquire and then let it go, as is seen here.
