Will UPA survive in Central on Telangana issue?

It seams the UPA in Central will derail in a short period. If so, please express your feelings.

Instinct to survive is greater than sacrificing Andhra or Telangana. Congress will jettison anybody that comes in the way of ruling the country. It has been having strange bed fellows since 1947.

At eleventh hour UPA Government will survive. Andhra region leaders have been lobbying central government for a long time. In recent developments in Telangana UPA have to come out with concrete decision. Tension will mount if it doesn't take any decision not only Telangana region M.Ps but also other parties MPs will pressure other wise they will threat UPA withdraw their support. Even some Telangana region senior most MPs are trying to misguide their own region MPs. In near future UPA have to face a acid test over Telangana issue.

PJR ji, Even A.P is renamed as Telangana state, Telangana region people don't accept. Telangana people are fighting for their rights. Can you tell how much percentage of Andhra region people are doing jobs in Telangana region with bogus certificates? Telangana region people are unable to get jobs in their own regions but Andhra region people get jobs in this region. How it is possiable? I think you are well aware of Regional Council which was formed in 1953 and their is a gentlemen agreement. Who violated these agreements? As per agreement no andhrawala can purchase a cent of land in Telangana region without permission of Regional council. How these people are getting lands in Telanagana region? since 1969 Telangana region people were deceived by andhras in all fields. Telengana region have rich natural resources. Hyderabad is a city of Telanagana people. Not only Hyderabad but entire Telanagana districts culture is similiar. Andhrawala culture is different from Telanagana. No Telanganaite never accept live with andhrawala. Enough is enough. Once Telangana forms a seperate state they live with pece and harmony.

If this time Telangana people kept quiet for their basic rights that day Telangana people stay in their own state as Refugee.

Never allow any out sider to rule in Telangana areas.

We need not to call them as Telangana People and Telangana State Sir.

People of Telangana can call the State as

     "TELUGU STATE".

Anil Agrawal (Retired)     26 December 2009

I am told Telugu is a language recognized by the Constitution and presently spoken in the whole of Andhra Pradesh. When Telangana is carved out, it will become Telugu State - after Telugu people or Telugu language?

In the remaining Andhra, Telugu will still be spoken. Naturally, therefore, it should be called "Telugu State No.2".

Should be read this:

The Andhras were nomads for several centuries. Some tribes migrated and others did not and remained in their older settlements. Apastamba Rishi states that around 700 BC some Andhra tribes inhabited the Salva Kingdom (Salva Desa) on the banks of the Yamuna River. Apastamba sutra has been widely practiced among Andhra Brahmin families and continues to be followed even today. A single Rishi was the teacher (acharya) of each tribe. Apastamba was one such teacher. Apastamba wrote these rules in Salva Desam on the banks of theYamuna river. After Apastamba's death the Andhra tribes crossed the Vindhya mountains, reached the south, and merged with the other Andhra tribes. The Atreya Brahmana says that the Andhras lived on the south side of Vindhya Range along with the Pundras, Pulindas, Sabaras and Mootibas.

Some of those Andhras who came to the south of the Vindhya mountains settled in the regions north of present-day Hyderabad. Another tribe crossed the Eastern Ghats to Orissa and reached the Kalinga Desam. Serivanijo Jataka tale explains that the Andhras built the Andhaka-puram on the banks of Tel river.

The Sanskrit epics mention the Andhra Kingdom, named for the Aryan tribe of the Andhras.[3][4] They are mentioned again at the time of the death of the great Mauryan King Ashoka in 232 BC. This date has been considered to be the beginning of the Andhra historical record. Various dynasties have ruled the area, including the Andhra (or Satavahana), Shakas, Ikshvakus, Eastern Chalukyas, the Vijayanagar Kingdom, the Qutb Shahis of Golconda, and the Nizams (princes) of Hyderābād.[5]

The term Kalinga (India), has been historically relevant to this region, incorporating north-east Andhra Pradesh and modern day Orissa. People from the Kalinga region were responsible for colonizing Sri Lanka, spreading Buddhism and are ancestors to a large portion of the Sinhalese population. The inhabitants of Southern Andhra Pradesh are predominantly descendants of the Dravidian people, with mild admixture from the Aryan race.

Andhras and Kalingas supported the Kauravas during the Mahabharata war. Sahadeva defeated the kingdoms of Pandya, Dravida, Odra, Chera, Andhra, and Kalinga while performing the Rajasuya yajna. Chanoora was killed by Krishna in Mathura. Hari Vamsa Purana corroborates the fact that Chanoora was the king of Karoosa Desa (to the North of the Vindhyas and on the North Bank of the Yamuna river) and was an Andhra. Buddhist references to Andhras are also found.[6]

The Jataka Tales were written during 200-250 BC. The Tel river is a Tributary of the Mahanadi in Orissa. The tribe in this region were called Kalingas. The books cited above describe the Andhras and Kalingas as two different branches of a single tribe. Sometimes these two words (Andhras and Kalingas) are used as synonyms.

Andhra tribes established relationships with Naga, Yaksha, and Dravida tribes of the Vindhya mountains who were already living there. A tribe called Tailang in Burma is proposed to be related to Telugu people.

Agrawal ji,

Hindi is a language of several northern states. How do you classifiy Delhi, UP, MP etc. as Hindi-1, Hindi-2, Hindi-3 etc. states?

Anil Agrawal (Retired)     26 December 2009

 Mr. Prakash,

You answer the question yourself. The States you refer to are not named after a language. If you create a State and name it after a language, naturally the other State where the same language is spoken has to be referred to in the manner suggested by me.

If Telanganga can be renamed as Telugu State, why not Andhra, where also Telugu is spoken, as Telugu State No.2? How Telangana can claim monopoly of Telugu language and rename their State after a language?

Anil Agrawal (Retired)     26 December 2009

 By way of addition.

Hindi is spoken in U.P., Bihar and M.P. - all Hindi speaking States.

When Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Chhatisgarh were formed, they were not named after Hindi language.

Andhra Pradesh local language is Telugu.

In Telangana Districts people they speak Urdu, Telugu and National language Hindi.

Being a Telugu is the mother tongue Telangana People can named the state as Telugu State. Not like Telugu State  1 and Telugu State 2.

Telangana People are not hybrid like British to use.

Anil Agrawal (Retired)     26 December 2009

There is no use going overboard. If we are discussing something, let it be done rationally with cogent reasons.

If Telangana is proposed to be called Telugu State, on this analogy, I see no reason why remaining Andhra can't be called Telugu State 2? Telugu language is not the monopoly of Telangana area.

Agrawal ji,

Who said Telugu is a monoploy of Telangana people? Telangana people speak Urdu, Hindi, English of course Telugu. Their is lot of difference between Telnagana Telugu and Andgra Telugu pronounciation and meaning. I am not speaking about literary Telugu. Day to day usage of telugu. Even their is lot of cultural difference between two regions. Here no one is fighting for language difference or even not asking for separate state on linguastic basis. I think you are well aware of Nizam rule, Andhra state formation and how Andhra state included Telangana on linguastic basis and formed Andhra Pradesh state. Telangana people have been deceving by Andhra region from the day inception of A.P State. i.e.November 1, 1956. Telangana people are fighting for their rights in Government jobs and development of Telangana. Not on lingustic basis the movement is going on.

Anil Agrawal (Retired)     26 December 2009

Telugu is the regional/official language of Andhra Pradesh as it is constituted now. I am not talking of dialects, culture, food, customs, discrimination since inception etc. etc. Neither I am talking about Reddys and Khammams.

Simple logic is if there  was such a strong feeling in favour of Telangana why Congress was voted back to power over and over again if it not concede the demand?

Potti Sreeramulu 6 March 1901 – 16 December 1952) (age 51), took fast unto death, lost his life, and became instrumental in the linguistic re-organisation of states. He is revered as Amarajeevi (Immortal being) in Andhra for his sacrifice. Last 60 years and no Sreeramulu for creation of  Telangana State?

Without denigrating any persons or party, I still firmly hold on to my view that if and when Andhra is bifurcated, it is not the monopoly of Telangana people to call their State Telugu State. States are not named after language.
