Time limit for heirs to claim property

If a person expires intestate with just a nominee, is there a time limit (number of years) for the heirs to claim their stake?

Generally no limit. But in case of bank balances, fix a minimum threshold limit, for the balance in the account of the deceased depositors, up to which claims in respect of the deceased depositors could be settled without insisting on production of any documentation other than a letter of indemnity.

If there was a nominee then the question of intestate does not arise, so please see what you want to clarify and be precise about your issue.

Sirs, Thanks for your response.

A person nominates person x. He expires without a will. Does X can be considered as owner if actual heirs y,z, w have no issues with it?

If one of them changes mind and tries to tires to claim his stake after few years, is there a time frame within which he will be able to do so?

For claiming fixed deposit amount in bank in nominees's account, can the legal heir of a person who has died intestate claim it after 3 years of death - whether as per law is there any time limit at all set beyond which a legal heir cannot claim this amount from nominee ?
