Termination without notice

I have been working in a company since june 2018. From the last week the employer was forcing me to resign because they want to lower the staff count. So i resigned on 16th april and according to the company policy my work term had to be till 16th of may. Today the employer suddenly came and asked me to take my money till today and leave the company. Can they do this? The company policy asks for a resignation before 30 days of leaving. I have a copy of the resignation signed by the HOD which mentions that I'll work till 16th of may. Please help me here
