Termination after metarnity leave over ?

I am key account manager ( recruitment) I was on maternity leave any my maternity leave was over on 2 may 18 . And I hv to report on 3may 18 to my company for rejoin but unfortunately fail this because I was sick but verbally I informed. My point is this that they can the company terminate my employment if I asked for extension leave? Because my baby is too small and no one here to take care. In 9th July they asked me to resign. when I put my resign and ask my full final they terminated me. what can I do now? Pls suggest

Please check if your leaves come under this bracket or outside.

The Maternity Benefit Amendment Act has increased the duration of paid maternity leave available for women employees from the existing 12 weeks to 26 weeks. Under the Maternity Benefit Amendment Act, this benefit could be availed by women for a period extending up to a maximum of 8 weeks before the expected delivery date and the remaining time can be availed post childbirth.
