Tenant's land lord

We were tenants in a building from 1972 ,

we have tenant-land lord agreement from 1972, we also do have Atornment Notice when our building was transfered to the new landlord,

we have paid rent upto 1999-2000, in 2001 in earthquake, building collapsed, land were aquired by the Govt for town planning, Land lord got the new plot in leu of the old premises, after 2001 land lord did not accepted the rent from us,

we had published a legal notice in the local new paper, in 2004, after then in 2012 we have managed to get the reply from our land lord, in writting ,

now he says that we are not his tenants.

do we have any legal protection ???
