Surrender

If anyone surrenders for some crime(may be small or big) he/she has done.. is there any provision in law to get some less punishment for his/her crime? and also he/she take oath that he/she will never commit it again..

rformative theory of punishment which suggests that a lineint view should  be taken in such cases
