Sharing of property amongst coparceners

This is a problem of my relative. The family of my relative is having both ancestral and also self-acquired property by the father of three male and one female dependants. The father died in the year 1999, leaving behind both sets of properties. One of the male member never lived with his parents and did not serve them in their old age. After the death of his father, the male member came over from far off place to claim the property. Whether the said male member is eligible to claim the share in the property?

If he had died intestate then all the class one legal heirs have equal share including the son whom you are talking about
