Dear querist,

If purchased in both the name of mother and wife then it is joint property of mother and wife.

If the family is undivided, the burden of proof is on the party that claims that he has acquired it with his/her own income, showing such source.  Generally in undivided status, because the property is in the name of a person, it can not be treated as self acquired and if there is even small contribution from joint income of others, it can not be self acquired property.  This is not easy to provide any guidance on bare facts.
