Dr T.A.Vasu (Retired Professor of surgery)     03 September 2011

Request by mla/minister

I am a Government doctor. If the minister or MLA send a letter to give special consideration to a patient, is it illegal, I mean against oath? Shall I report it to the Speaker?

If I act positively, is it a bribe? (If I have to operate on his case early, I have to postpone another.)

It is only an obligation and not an order for adherence.Make your own judgment based on the condition of the patient. You are not called upon to reply ,respond,or  report the comlinace of it.These are all imminent in public service.
