Papers were on name of my mother! when it got lost, property got transferred on name of my father.
We have current Property papers (on name of father) but previous one is lost.
Now we are finding a problem in selling that Property due to lost papers. We have it's Xerox copy too.

Now If I complain at Police about lost papers, what date should I tell them that it got lost... Today's or 5 years back.
We simply need solution without much problem.
If you have the xerox copy of the document you can get the certified copy issued by the registering authority. Just file application for issuance of certified copy .
If you want to file FIR just give the actual date as and statement as otherwsie police shall invetigate and will ask you too many quastions ,better to speak the actual tale.
