Made to bounce

A bank returned a cheque for insufficiency of funds though it does not have record to show that cheque book from which the cheque leaf was taken was issued to the customer. Can it be 138 case?

Of course that is one defence you should also verify the signature as to who has signed it and to attract 138 the cheque should be for discharge of liability as such there should be some other evidence like pro note invoice etc.
