Legal steps to expect in this case - property case-tamlnadu

sir,
we have a grama natham land in the state of tamilnadu for which there is a penal charges being paid between 1995 -2003 and we have beam notices issued for the same..the revenue department stopped accepting any penal charges since 2003 and no beam notice was issued..now there is a claim by the local village admin body that they need to take over the land for some community development purpose per instruction from the government and based on a order issued by the collector..for which i want to file a case..this land was orignially purchased by my grandfather in 1994.
being new to the law on these kind of cases..what are the steps that i should expect in the course of legal process so that i can better discuss all these steps with the lawyer before engaging them..
what is the short term and long term relief that i should expect on this case..
