Income tax return file

For Income below 10 lakhs is it mandatory to file Return electronically for the A.Y. 2013-2014 ?

CBDT has vide notification No. 34/2013 dated 01.05.2013 has made it mandatory for the following

category of the Assesses to file their Income Tax Return Online from A.Y. 2013-14 :-

(a) It is mandatory for every person (not being a co. or a person filing return in ITR 7) to e-file the return

of income if itstotal income exceeds Rs. 5,00,000

Yes, it mandatory to file income tax retuns online for those having TAXABLE income above 5L.

From AY 2013-14 IT IS mandatory to file Income Tax Return electronically if the total income exceeds Rs. 5 lacs.

Besides all the above answers of (YES IT IS AMNDATORY TO FILE INCOME TAX ELECTRONICALLY IF INCOME EXCEEDS RS.5 LACS) to maintain a clear and consistent income tax file. EVEN if your income level is not at the figure mentioned and below the same, you should always file returns. There are instances of people filing Zero returns as well.
