Importance of mangal sootra, toe ring?

Dear experts,

According to hindu customs mangal sootra and toe ring are very important. And my ex wife had removed three years back which was accepted by her. Even on cross examination day also she was not wearing either of them and it was noted by the court.

I would like to know how important is mangalsootra in legal aspect?

Any citations and references wherein removal of mangal sootra by wife has been dealt with seriously by court?

Dear shiva,

Tearing Of mangalsutra infront of husband comes under mental cruelty and a ground for divorce U/s 13 ia HMA 1955.

The relevant citation is :

Ramlali Vs Soneylal

Madhya Pradesh Highcourt.

Tearing of Mangalsutra infront of husband is a cause of Mental cruelty.

But not wearing of Mangalsutra and Toe ring is her choice. There is no hard & fast rule that 24 Hrs she has to wear it otherwise its a mental cruelty.
